A Little Bit Trashy

It’s a sad state of affairs when the highlight of my day is digging through the trash! The names have been changed to protect the innocent, but the details in this story are real! Also I want to confirm that the main character in this story is NOT one of my own children. We are not even related, but I certainly would claim this one in a heartbeat! Also I think I better clarify that I wasn’t the one digging in the trash. I was just there for moral support because goodness knows, we can all use a little of that every now and again!

This is a tale of how an innocent retainer accidentally and haphazardly got tossed in the trash at lunch. Its a story of how life sometimes feels just like that bag of trash. It’s practically impossible to see any type of victory when you are elbow deep in slimy, smelly garbage. The more you dig, the more overwhelmingly hopeless you feel. As the stench overtakes you and the fear of failure and disappointment builds within you, it seems you may never find your treasure again.

Let’s be honest for a minute. We all have trash in our lives. All of our junk leaves us feeling unworthy and helpless. You know what though? We have a Savior who can take all the garbage in our life and turn it into something meaningful and worthwhile. He makes beauty from ashes, and He takes all your garbage and makes you beautiful too!

Though this story started so bleak (and nasty ) it sure did have a happy ending! No matter what is happening in your life, know God is there, sorting through that pile of trash, moving it aside to uncover the one He created you to be. You have a great story, my friend. Don’t let a little garbage keep you from sharing it with the world!
