Help! We all know I can get lost just a few seconds after turning out of my driveway, even with the help of my very good friend, GPS. But imagine how confused I was with dueling directions! Here’s how it went down.
My friend and I were on a road trip. The GPS guided us as we traveled, but we started getting hungry and needed to take a detour to eat. We weren’t familiar with the area, and for whatever reason, the app wouldn’t pull up food nearby. So my friend opened up another app and plugged in our lunch destination. As soon as lunch lady app tells me to make a u-turn, I do it, because I am starving! But this upset the boy band voice who has been singing us directions for the last two hours. Lunch lady and boy band voices battled it out for the next five Lminutes, while we rerouted and headed to our lunch destination.
How many times do you start off on a destination or project, and get sidetracked or rerouted? Don’t get me wrong, french fries are important, and so are many other things that pop up in a day’s time. Life’s road is filled with detours, and there is nothing wrong with that. Many times, what we think is a wrong turn or a detour actually brings the greatest blessings. You just have to make sure God is the one guiding you on the detour. Satan seeks to get you off the beaten path. He fills your head with noise from the world in hopes of confusing you.
Psalm 32:8 says, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.” So press on friend; keep following after God with all your heart. Stop when He says stop, turn when He says turn, but most of all, enjoy the ride!
